The strange thing is on the face of the certificate where is says this is a certified copy of birth for Fannie May Williams, not Wallen. She was my great grand mother, and the story was told to me that when she was a child she was raised by J.E. Wallen to whom her uncle sold her to. She was not a slave, but white. J.E. Wallen she told us had to boys who were mean to her. That is all we know, and all we can find out.
