SEABORN J. FOUST

1848 - 1913

 

Seaborn J. Foust was born in Blount County, Alabama, November 3, 1848. He married Louisa Musgrove March 8, 1870. Three sons and two daughters were born to them, all living to be grown and raising families. He came to Texas in 1884 and settled in Somervell County, a few miles north of Glen Rose. He gave the land for the Post Oak School and Cemetery and also for the Pleasant Point Baptist Church.

He was ordained to the gospel ministry in 1894, and was pastor of many churches in Hood and Somervell Counties. He was active in pastoral work until a few years prior to his death, when he retired because of failing health. In 1900 he was elected Moderator of Paluxy Association and presided over that one annual session. He died at his home in Tolar December 11, 1913. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. N.Y. Groom. His earthly remains were laid to rest in the Post Oak Cemetery with Masonic rites.
