Comments: I myself have been researching different lines of family (mine and my husbands) for several years. I guess I first started back in the 80's. I am so glad to see some of the old records being put out there on the web. Thanks for all the great info, it really does help. It is hard for me to travel to all the places our ancestors lived, to research records. This really helps us that can't do a lot of traveling. I wish more counties would put more out there. Thanks again. Great job.

If your list is of Hood Countians, was it taken from the roster board that is located on the first floor of the County Courthouse. My Aunt, Flossie Doris Liles complied several volumes of research on the Dillards, Bartons, Liles and several other families ties from the Fairview Community. Several of these volumes of research were donated to the Hood County libary upon her death.

Comments: Absultely the best I have found in my search for ancestors, I wish all communities would follow your leand ...a real service to mankind ...thankyou. We errected a tombstone to James C. McCoy and Margaret McCoy nee Ledbetter in Craigmont, Idaho this past memorial day, They are my great grandparents. Following the Civil War James & Margaret went west in covered wagons to SE Wash. & Idaho, had 12-14 children. Died approx 1910 near Craigmont and have been in unmarked graves until we found them a few years ago. James served in Civil War along with a broher or two, ...there is a hard to read letter from what must have been Margaret's mother with only the name Hood Co. on the top. I looked up every Hood Co. in the country until I found yours. Now that I know you have the records you have I will go dig out that letter. I would like to find out if she is buried in your area. James tombstone in Craigmont has the inscription "Granburys Texas Brigade" and the VFW Honored him the past Memorial DAy... Anyway thanks again, I will be back...JOhn

Comments: I was delighted to find this material. It's more than I've been able to locate from other sources. Fenley is not a common surname, but it's hard to find much. As I said, my grandparents were John and Myrtle Fenley. I was once told that my grandfather's name was Uz, but I've never found any record of it. My grandparents lived on and farmed land owned by Mr. Sears (I think). My grandmother went to the Baptist Church in Hood. My grandfather was a Mason. Sons included. Loren, Bill (wife Mary) - they farmed near hood then moved to Gainesville, J.C., Claude (my father), Gordon. A girl (Dorthy) who died in childbirth and a toddler (Carl) who drown at the farm. There was an uncle (Noal - Noel (?) who had a dairy in Hood. He had a son by the name of Donnie. My father and uncles when to Era school as did I for a while in the early grades. Most of my family is buried in the cemetery just outside hood. Any information whould be appreciated. Don Fenley

Kelsoe--concrete cover on graves---tombstone shows Etta Dooly-(1880-1902) and Ada L.M. Kelsoe - (1955-1902) . I have been unable to find the cemetery where they are buried. It should be near Paluxy but may be in Somervell or Erath counties. W.T. Dooly's father was Wm Dooly---Hood County Records show him to be a Justice of the Peace in Dist. # 3, ID No. 197. This family came to OK Territory (Greer County) in 1902. Records show they were in Hood County in 1884--came from Alabama.
